Started in Knoxville, TN by W.H. Reed Sr. and his brother Earl Reed in August of 1954.  At this time Skyline served as a local interline trucking company for large LTL carriers in the United States such as Yellow, Roadway, and CF. Skyline operated within a 200 mile radius of Knoxville, TN.

In 1980, the U.S. Government deregulated the transportation industry.   This allowed Skyline to begin offering LTL service in the Southeast states of Tennessee, Ohio, North Carolina and Alabama.

W.H. Reed Sr. retired and his son Bill Reed Jr. continued to lead the company. Bill took the companies’ operations from 3 freight terminals up to 22 freight terminals.

In January 1999 Skyline was a major competitor in the southeast regional LTL market. Skyline employed over 600 people in the 10 states that we offered LTL service to.

Skyline Truckload/ Dedicated began operations on January 16, 1999.

Today Skyline is operated by Jeff Reed and Bill Reed III the two sons of Bill Reed Jr.
